Painting as Praise
By Tim Riddlestorffer
There are many beautiful sights to view as a person attends Osceola for the first
time. Many may look at the vast brick steeple from the outside, while others
admire the gloriously decorated halls of the sanctuary. Now Osceola has a new
addition in praising the lord through the artistic work of Audrey Peterson.
Audrey recently has worked on many murals that have lighted up various
parts of the church with colorful drawings.

Audrey says that she got the ideas for painting the murals from hearing Pastor
John preach on how God’s hands work to give for us. Audrey was moved by this
thought and wanted to give back in her own way, which is reflected in the
murals. In 2007, Audrey began work on the Noah’s Ark display in the crib
care room, complete with animals all around the room. When talking with long
time Crib Care leaderGladys Krasse, she said that the kids love to look at the
murals and point out all of the different animals.

Then in late 2010-early 2011, Audrey beganwork on the murals in the halls of
the staircases, which reflect God’s hands holding the Earth. The project took
81 totals hours of work, which included sketching, and painting. Audrey
received lots of help from her classmates through the process.
When asked what her favorite part about the experience was,
Audrey said the appreciation of the churchmembers meant a lot to her.
In addition, she was happy to get her friendsinterested in art. Audrey
had begun to paint at a young age while learning from her mom and
continues to paint today. Audrey hopes to continue doing other art
projects for things such as her senior project.
So if you see Audrey in church on Sundays be sure to thank her forthe wonderful
murals, because the hard work put into the project makes it really spectacular.
